Are you a student at Maastricht University (UM) or Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and are you coming from abroad to live in Maastricht? Then register with the municipality so that you will also receive a Burgerservicenummer (BSN).

Are you going to live here for more than 4 months? Then you have to register with the municipality.

If you register, you will receive information as soon as possible to pick up your BSN number. This number gives you access to all kinds of government services. Registration with the municipality is mandatory if you are going to live in the Netherlands for at least four months. Apply for a residence permit first if you have a non-European nationality.
